Copenhagen 8

(Willow - Two Children)

Copenhagen 8
Movember, Quantum computers and Senja.

November was a month with a lot to happen. It was the month where my life started on a different path. Maybe it is even an old path, I'm not quite sure yet. November started with Movember, the month in which men try to create awareness for male specific illnesses. Then I had a visitor which would leave as my girlfriend after a decision which seemed to be inevitable anyway. And lastly on the last day I was visiting a PhD defence of Eran Kot, giving me an impression about just how small the world of quantum computing is.

Movember is the week of men, it creates awareness about male-related illnesses. For instance between one in six and one in 5 men contracts prostate cancer in their lives. And in many countries it is the most common form of cancer. The event itself is a dream for all those people who love men with facial hair, and it is hell for those who like pre-teen shaven chins. For that reason I never expected One Direction to join in anyway. So, I made a set of pictures before and after shaving. I am going to miss the beard a little, as it was ideal for holding when thinking of idea's and yet it has this manly touch to it, that you just don't get from hair elsewhere, like on the chest.

And During:

And the final result, looking like a teen...:

All in all, it was a fun month to do, it was however, a little strange to see the men in Denmark deal with it. Most of it, didn't deal with it at all, as they had no idea. (even though half the buses here have mustaches on them) Another chunk of men are too self-absorbed with their appearance to make their hairs grow out of the natural places to be. Though generally better dressed then most people in the rest of the world. They seem to be impersonating random teenage idols. And the, no beards are allowed. Could you have imagined how it would have been for all those poor hysterical fans:

Then I had a visit of a friend, Senja came along and we kind of decided that albeit a strange past, it wasn't such a bad idea to tie the knot. So, I won't be saying that much about it here. After all some things are private, I will share some nice pictures of things happening in those days:

This is one of 2 kitten Amur leopards, they are living in Frederiksberg Zoo, they are the rarest species of cats in the world, and the random cat lady you know, has probably more cats then there of this one in the wild.

Of course we went to Winter Tivoli, which was actually a little dark (Sun sets around 4 pm here) and well most pictures weren't so great, the view however was wonderful!

And that is me and Senja, probably one of the most intelligent girls I have ever met :P. Clumsy as hell though.

And back to the Institute. This contraption is inside the toilets and I have no idea what it does, I believe it to be a turn of the century blow drier. But I am not sure, so I'll wait for someone else to use it. Anyway, I was at a PhD defence. The Defender was naturally nervous, and the opposers were naturally trying to see how they could retrieve answers from the thesis that they could later use for their own work. Either way, there only a few guests, but they were from all over the world. I have actually reached a place which doesn't have a lot of people doing theory in, and is an exiting and developing field of science. As it so happens also a booming society, as these invitations are literally littered around even though it is about mister Alfred

Nobel
