Copenhagen 4

(Nina Simone - Ne me quitte pas)

Copenhagen 4
Freemasons and Kulturnatten

The Niels Bohr institute is an old building, it was build somewhere in the 19th century and was only later converted to a research institute. Due to this is has something of an industrialist look to it. That is why the building next to it is so surprisingly different.

That building on the left, build in the thirties, is the danish order of freemasons main building. And it is on renovation. It would seem that after finishing my article which I read whilst walking in the park. I could sit behind my computer and simple look up the information from their main website. But, I can't. Even though they park their cars on our terrain, for some reason the Danish Freemasons have locked out all internet connection from the Niels Bohr institute. A check with the system administrator Bjorn Nilsson, who happens to be one of the most kindest persons I have ever met. According to him they blocked our 'main NAT gateway'. If someone would like to volunteer to design elaborate conspiracy theories, now is the time.

On an unrelated note (I hope) yesterday was the 'Kulturnatten' a humongous cultural event spanning the entire Copenhagen area. I started of with a poor fashion show made by not very talented fashion designers. Then I followed to Bornholm castle. Basically what is now the parlement, I don't have a very good photo because the massiveness of the event caught me in some middle aged train of spectators.

After this, and some wondering through the streets I arrived at the geological museum. Which was not so internationally orientated I wondered outside following a trail of candles to encounter this.

A gigantic greenhouse in something I can only describe as comming straight from a movie. Definitly a place to go to in the summer. The inside was filled with a jungle and for some reason a band that was playing music. Danish sadly, so I couldn't understand a word.

After that I decided to visit the national museum. Which normally costs money but this time it was free. Which was good because everyone was at the main show.

This meant that the whole modern art section was completely devoid of people.

Alos I rarely had the change to look at a huge exposition of the works of Matisse without the bother of other people around.

After all this I went to the after-party at the VEGA somewhere in the southwest of the city. It was at this point that i realised two things:
1; Copenhagen is actually a big city.
2; This city never sleeps, except on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

I do hope this afterparty wasn't an example of who things are going to be because I discovered a few things. Most people, women especially, wear black, just black. It seemed like a militarized zone of poorly dressed people. The guys were either from Jersey Shore or picked of from the local beany marked. I wasn't the only one with a jacket, but I was the only one with a jacket that actually fitted. Also those that didn't looked like the above well, looked like crap or dressed (or where) somewhere at the age of 16. I was shocked and appalled. Women of the Netherlands, yes, you DO dress a lot better. For some reason women here think just skanky black clothing is enough. Skanky clothing is worthless without a personal message. Anyway, for now I guess I'll just have to flee to the academic of

Fashion.
