The later is the beginning of the previous. As it subsequently end the former. This might seem weird, but it in fact isn't at all. There is no former once the later has been read. And the previous is only set as the new has begun.

So, what is the use of such cryptological language? Well the idea is simple. You can start something anew even when what you were doing doesn't seem finished. It will simply finish right there and then. And of course there will be some residual things going on. But we are free to choose how to end those. Or not. We can carry the burden, or let it not burden us. Or we choose to enjoy whatever it is that is making us happy even though it doesn't seem to have a logical explanation why. 

I don't know what this song is about. But I like it, I don't need to understand it either.
